March 17, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC today announced that midfielder Sergio Oregel Jr. has been called to the U.S. U-19 Men's Youth National Team for an upcoming training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina from March 20-28.
In Argentina, the U.S. will face an Argentina National Team at 8:30 a.m. CT on Friday, March 24, as well as Racing Club de Avellaneda at 8 a.m. CT on Monday, March 27.
It will be the second U-19 USMYNT training camp of the year for Oregel, who recently joined the squad in January for a training camp at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla. Prior to the January training camp, Oregel was part of the U-19 USMYNT squad that won the 2022 Slovenia Nations Cup in September 2022.
Oregel made his Major League Soccer debut on Oct. 9, 2022, in the 1-1 tie against the New England Revolution when he came on as a sub for another Homegrown player, Mauricio Pineda. He joined the Chicago Fire in 2018 as a member of the Chicago Fire Academy before signing a Homegrown deal with Chicago Fire FC on October 23, 2021. During his time with the Club, Oregel was the winner of the MLS NEXT U-19 Golden Ball, which is awarded to the best player of the tournament in each age division as a member of the Fire U-19 squad that won the inaugural MLS NEXT Cup on July 3, 2021.
Chicago will host FC Cincinnati at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 18, at Soldier Field. Tickets for the team's second home match of the season can be purchased here. The match will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV+ and transmitted locally in Spanish on TUDN 1200 AM.
