Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - Former Colorado Eagles defenseman Ben Chiarot was officially called-up to the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday, becoming the third former Eagle to ascend to the National Hockey League.

Chiarot played in 24 games for Colorado in the 2011-12 season, the Eagles first in the ECHL. During that time, the Hamilton, Ontario native posted six goals and seven assists. The former 4th round draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers has also played in 88 games at the AHL level. This season he registered five points in eight games with the St. John's Ice Caps.

Chiarot joins goaltender Tyler Weiman and forward Akim Aliu as former Eagles who have since gone on to become part of an NHL roster. Weiman helped backstop the Eagles to their first championship in 2005 before eventually joining the Colorado Avalanche in 2008. Aliu played alongside Chiarot during the 2011-12 season and would later go on to play seven games for the Calgary Flames in 2012, posting two goals and an assist.
