Evansville's Clemente Named CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Mike Clemente of the Evansville IceMen is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the week of Oct. 21-27.

The 23-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .938 in two appearances last week, helping Evansville to a 3-0-0 start to the season.

Clemente opened the week with 19 saves in a 2-1 win at Kalamazoo on Saturday and then stopped 26 of 28 shots in a 4-2 victory against Fort Wayne on Sunday.

A native of Great Falls, Va., Clemente is 3-0-0 this season with one shutout, a 1.00 goals-against average, which is tied for first in the league, and a save percentage of .959, which is second in the ECHL.

Under contract to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, Clemente made his professional debut with Missouri of the Central Hockey League last season, posting a 25-15-4 record with one shutout, a 3.25 goals-against average and a save percentage of .894. He also saw action in six games with Springfield, where he was 2-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.99 goals-against average and a save percentage of .930.

Runners Up: Joni Ortio, Alaska (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .943 save pct.) and Jeff Jakaitis, South Carolina (2-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .957 save pct.).
