Previewing the Upcoming Week:

11/1 vs. Greenville - 7:05 p.m., Home vs. GRN 0-0-0, Away vs. GRN 0-0-0

Elmira hosts Greenville for the first, and only, time this season on Friday at First Arena. It will be the middle stop for Greenville on a three-game tour of the Atlantic Division. The Jackals will return the favor with a two-game visit to Greenville on December 28 and 29. The Jackals won each of their home matchups against Greenville last season by a combined score of 9-2, and went 4-0-1 against the Road Warriors overall. Since the Jackals lost their home opener last week, they will try to avoid something on Friday night that hasn't happened in almost a calendar year. The last time the Jackals lost back-to-back home games in regulation was Dec. 7 and 8 vs. Reading.

11/2 at Reading - 7:05 p.m., Home vs. REA 0-1-0, Away vs. REA 1-0-0

The Jackals started of their slate of nine games at Reading's Santander Arena the right way with a 3-1 win last Saturday. They will shoot to make it two-for-two in a rematch this week. The Jackals have won each of their last two in Reading dating back to a 3-2 shootout win over the Royals on March 30, 2013. Only one time in their ECHL history have the Jackals won three games in a row in Reading; February 11 to March 3, 2012. The Jackals were 3-4-1 on the road in Reading last year and those three wins were tied with Trenton for the most on the road against Reading in the league.

Recapping Last Week:

10/25 vs. Reading: L 1-3

Despite a 34-19 shot advantage in their home opener, the Elmira Jackals fell to the Reading Royals. Reading goaltender Riley Gill made several important saves, including a left pad stop against Artem Demkov on a 2-on-0 breakaway, to keep the Jackals from taking the victory. Former Jackals Louie Caporusso and Dustin Gazley tallied third period goals for the Royals in the winning effort. Ludwig Karlsson pulled Elmira within two with his first professional goal late in the third period.

10/26 at Reading: W 3-1

One night after falling to Reading at home despite a healthy shot advantage, the Jackals flipped the script on the Royals for their first win of the season. Scott Greenham, in his first start for the Jackals, stopped 46 of 47 shots to backstop the win while Elmira managed 25 shots against Riley Gill. Elmira picked up power play goals from Jordan Southorn and Matt Carter, and an even strength score from Artem Demkov to pace the offense. Rookie Jakub Culek, who made his Jackals debut Saturday night, assisted on Southorn's goal for his first professional point.

Quick Hits:

* The Jackals' crowd of 3,685 on October 25 was their fourth largest for a home opener since joining the ECHL and largest since the 2010-11 home opener. It was, however, the first home opener they have lost in seven years.

* Scott Greenham's 46 saves on October 26 were the third most he has made in a game during his career. They were the second most he has made in a winning effort behind 48 in a win for Bakersfield on January 19, 2013. His highest save total in a game ever was 51 on February 1, 2013 as a member of the Condors.

* Through three games the Jackals are the least penalized team in the ECHL. They have the fewest penalty minutes (28), penalty minute per game average (9.33), minor penalties (9), and times shorthanded (9).

* Entering this week the Jackals rate fourth in the league with an average of 33.67 shots on goal per game. Artem Demkov leads the way with 13 shots to his credit while Rob Bellamy (11), Matt Carter (10), Danny Hobbs (10), and Jordan Pietrus (10) have also hit double digits.
