
Stingrays Take Down Solar Bears 4-2

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (4-0-0-1) extended their season-opening point streak to five games by defeating the Orlando Solar Bears (2-3-0-0) 4-2 Tuesday Night on 2x2 Tuesday presented by Bud Light at the North Charleston Coliseum. Forward Scott Campbell pushed his personal point streak to five games (five goals, two assists) with a goal and an assist.
Stingrays forward Chad Painchaud kicked off the scoring at 16:08 of the first period powering a shot between the legs of Solar Bears goaltender John Curry (L, 24 saves on 28 shots) from the between the faceoff circles. Forwards Chris Langkow and Jack Downing earned assists. Moments later, Solar Bears rookie defenseman Bryce Aneloski netted his first professional goal knocking in a bouncing puck past the left pad of Stingrays netminder Jeff Jakaits (W, 22 saves on 24 shots) from forwards C.J. Severyn and Mike Ullrich .
The Solar Bears grabbed the lead 13:00 into the middle frame off the stick of forward Zack Harrison with help from Severyn and Ullrich. The Stingrays responded with Lindsay Sparks' first professional tally at 19:11 on the power play. Forwards Peter Boyd and Campbell recorded assists.
Campbell put the Stingrays up for good at 2:55 of the third period rifling a pass from defenseman Scooter Vaughan over the glove of Curry. Forward Igor Gongalsky registered the second assist. Forward Patrick Gaul buried the insurance goal for the Stingrays at 14:33 from forwards Marc Hagel and Boyd. The Stingrays wrapped up the night 1-for-1 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 0-for-1.
