November 6, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals (6-3-1-1) sent 42 shots on net, but only one found its mark as they fell to the Charlotte Checkers (5-6-1-2), 3-1, on Saturday night at Norfolk Scope Arena. Each team had a road victory in the weekend home-and-home set, as Norfolk claimed a 3-2 shootout decision in Charlotte last night.
The Checkers took a 1-0 lead 13:06 into the first period. Zac Dalpe found the rebound of a Bobby Sanguinetti shot in the crease and batted it underneath Norfolk netminder Dustin Tokarski and into the net.
The Admirals wasted little time responding, as they leveled the score at 1-1 just over one minute later. Pierre-Cedric Labrie cut across the left circle and shoveled a backhand shot into the leg pads of Charlotte goaltender Justin Pogge. The puck emerged at the top of the crease, and Alex Berry fired it into the net for his first goal as an Admiral at 14:07.
Charlotte re-claimed the lead with a power play goal 3:08 into the second period. Drayson Bowman sent a shot from the right circle that deflected off the body of Zach Boychuk at the top of the crease and snuck past Tokarski for a 2-1 Checkers lead.
Charlotte iced the game in the middle of the third period after Dalpe won a faceoff. He sent a shot from the left circle on net, and Jacob Micflikier found the rebound in the right circle and fired it home for a 3-1 Checkers lead at 11:16.
Dustin Tokarski (28 shots, 25 saves) took the loss. Justin Pogge (42 shots, 41 saves) earned the win.
Norfolk was 0-6 on the power play. Charlotte was 1-4.
