Aeros win fourth consecutive in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY - Jarod Palmer had two assists in the 1st period and scored on an Aeros power play in the 3rd period to lead the Houston Aeros to their fourth consecutive win with a 4-2 win over the Oklahoma City Barons Saturday night. Anton Khudobin recorded 23 saves against the Barons and won his fourth consecutive start in goal as the Aeros ended the Barons five game winning streak and are now 3-0-0-0 in three games at Oklahoma City.

Brock McBride got the Aeros scoring started when he scored 5:35 into the 1st period on a pass from Jarod Palmer. The goal by McBride was his first as a member of the Houston Aeros and only his second AHL career goal. The Aeros would add a Carson McMillan goal 15:17 into the 1st period with assists from Petr Kalus and Jarod Palmer. The Aeros took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission as they score two 1st period goals for the third consecutive game and the fifth time overall this season.

Oklahoma City got the lone goal in the 2nd period at 16:42 by Alex Plante with assists to Alexandre Giroux and Brad Moran to cut the Aeros lead to 2-1.

The Aeros would quickly seize the momentum in the 3rd period when Jarod Palmer would score his first AHL goal 36 seconds on a power play with an assist from J.M. Daoust to stretch the Houston lead to 3-1.

Robbie Earl added to the Aeros lead 9:20 into the 3rd period on a goal with assists to Maxim Noreau and Warren Peters to give the Aeros a commanding 4-1 lead. The goal by Earl now gives him points in five of the last six games.

The Barons final goal would come at 17:28 in the 3rd period by Ben Ondrus.

The Aeros will travel to Abbotsford tomorrow for games against the Heat on Monday and Tuesday with each contest beginning at 9pm (CST).
