Nick Drazenovic Earns First NHL Call Up

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager, Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled forward Nick Drazenovic (drah-ZEHN-oh-vihk) from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Also defenseman Nikita Nikitin (nih-KEE-tuh, nih-KEE-tihn) has been activated after starting the season on injured reserve.

Drazenovic, 23, has played in 12 games for the Rivermen this season, ranking first on the team with six goals and is tied for third with nine points (six goals, three assists). Last season, the 6-0, 200-pound forward played in 58 games for Peoria, collecting 39 points (19 goals, 20 assists) along with 40 penalty minutes. Drazenovic tied for first on the Rivermen with a career-high 19 goals last season.

Up to this point, Drazenovic has spent his entire professional career with the Rivermen. He has appeared in 215 games and collected 123 points (53 goals, 70 assists). The Prince George, British Columbia native was originally drafted by the Blues in the sixth round, 171st overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He will wear uniform #47.

Nikitin, 24, spent seven seasons with Omsk Avangard in Russia. In his seven-year career, the 6-3, 217-pound defenseman has played in 265 games for Omsk totaling 61 points on 13 goals and 48 assists including 219 penalty minutes.

Nikitin was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round, 136th overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He will uniform #64.

The Blues will look to extend their five-game winning streak when they play at Boston tonight at 6 p.m. CST. The game will be televised on FS Midwest and broadcast on KMOX 1120 AM.
