
Amerks Edge Devils in High Scoring Affair

(Rochester, NY)... Five different players registered multi-point nights as the Rochester Americans defeated the Albany Devils by a 6-4 count tonight at the Times Union Center in Capital District New York. The game was the first-ever meeting between the intrastate rivals as Rochester improved to 7-5-1-0 on the season with its fourth win in its last five games.
Third-year forward Michal Repik assisted on three goals, while Bill Thomas (2+0), Ryan Del Monte (1+1), Michael Duco (1+1) and Paul Baier (0+2) each recorded two points apiece for the visiting Amerks. First-year netminder Jacob Markstrom turned away 26 shots to garner his fifth win of the campaign.
Mattias Tedenby (1+1) and defenseman Alexander Urbom (0+2) each tabbed two-point outings for the hometown Devils, who have now dropped two of their last three. Mike McKenna posted 29 saves in the losing effort.
The teams exchanged goals in the opening period, starting with Duco's second goal in two nights just 20 seconds into the contest. Del Monte and Baier assisted on the goal. After Matt Anderson tied the game at 7:11, Rochester's Thomas netted his first goal of the game to give Rochester a 2-1 advantage. Repik and Colby Robak set up the goal at 12:37 on the power play. Albany would again even the game as Tedenby beat Markstrom at 14:59. The power-play marker was Tedenby's second point of the game.
In the second, Thomas scored his second of the evening for a 3-2 Rochester lead. This time, the power-play goal was assisted on by Repik and Chris Taylor at 1:13. The Devils, however, responded with two shorthanded tallies by Brad Mills and Vladimir Zharkov before the end of the second to pull ahead 4-3.
The final frame was all Rochester as the Amerks scored three straight unanswered goals in a 3:40 span, starting with rookie Scott Timmins' second goal in as many nights at 15:01. Del Monte gave the Amerks a 5-4 lead 1:43 later at 16:44 and Evgeny Dadonov added an empty-netter at 18:41 to extend his point streak to six games.
On Sunday, Rochester returns home to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for the second time in three nights. The Amerks dropped a 5-4 decision to the Pens Friday. The 5:05 p.m. game falls on the team's second annual "Salute to the Troops Night". On Sunday, November 7th, members of the various military services will be on hand with the help of Operation Tribute to Freedom. Members of the Armed Forces, both past and present, will receive $4.00 off the price of admission by presenting their government-issued Military ID card at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office. The discount is good for all price levels except 200 End and Balcony seating and is not valid with any other offers.
