Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jeff Daniels, general manager and head coach of the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Mike Little to a professional tryout contract.

Little, 27, is tied for second on the ECHL's Florida Everblades in scoring with 17 points (2g, 15a) in 19 games to go along with a plus-18 rating. The product of American International College is tied for sixth among ECHL defensemen in points and is tied for sixth among all players in plus-minus.

A native of Enfield, CT, Little has 116 points (24g, 92a) in 207 career ECHL games over five seasons with Reading, Stockton and Florida. He went scoreless in his only three career AHL games with the Norfolk Admirals last season.

Along with A.J. Jenks and Andrew Rowe, the signing of Little and his Everblades teammate, forward Gabriel Desjardins, earlier Tuesday gives the Checkers four professional tryouts on their active roster as they prepare to face the Oklahoma City Barons Tuesday at 7 p.m. The game marks the first of a four-game home stand ending with the AHL's holiday break on Dec. 21.
