Cleveland Monsters News Release
The Lake Erie Monsters (12-10-2-2) were never able to solve Marek Mazanec on Tuesday, as the goaltender propelled the Milwaukee Admirals (13-9-0-3) to a 4-0 decision over the Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena. The game marked the first time since October 17th, and just the second time this season the Monsters have been held scoreless. The Monsters have a rematch against Milwaukee scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Cleveland.
Viktor Arvidsson took the puck up the left side for Milwaukee in the final minutes of the first period, cut to the front of the net, and slipped a low shot into the net for the only goal of the first period, giving Milwaukee a 1-0 lead with three minutes left in the frame. Milwaukee extended their lead to 2-0 in the second period when Brendan Leipsic wired a slap shot from the left circle that beat Monsters goalie Roman Will high glove-side at 1:48 of the second period, and their 2-0 lead held through the end of the middle frame.
In the third period, Leipsic weaved to the slot and netted a power play goal at the 6:37 mark, and Austin Watson added an empty-net goal at the 18:11 mark to secure a 4-0 win for the Admirals.
Will is 1-4-0 after the loss in net for the Monsters; he stopped 27 of 30 shots. Mazanec stopped 29 of 29 shots for Milwaukee, and is now 7-7-1 in net on the season.
The Monsters host Milwaukee Thursday at 7:00 p.m. The game airs live on AM 1420 "ËThe Answer'.
NOTES: The Monsters are 0-1-0-1 against Milwaukee this season, and 4-3-2-0 against Milwaukee over the last five seasons at The Q...
