
Columbus Blue Jackets Acquire Center Luke Adam from Buffalo

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired center Luke Adam from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for left wing Jerry D'Amigo, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The Blue Jackets have assigned Adam to the Springfield Falcons.
Adam, 24, has posted 15 goals and 11 assists for 26 points with 32 penalty minutes in 87 career NHL games with Buffalo. He has also recorded 161 points (85g, 96a) and 181 penalty minutes in 237 career AHL games with the Portland Pirates and Rochester Americans, including 20 points (8g, 12a) and 24 penalty minutes in 27 contests in 2014-15.
The 6-foot-2, 203-pound center was selected by Buffalo in the second round, 44th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft. He split the 2013-14 season between Buffalo and Rochester, collecting 1 point (1g) with four penalty minutes in 12 games with the Sabres. He added 49 points (29g, 20a) and 48 penalty minutes in 59 games with the Americans, ranking first in goals (eighth in the AHL) and second in points, while appearing in the AHL All-Star Classic. He recorded NHL career highs in goals, assists, points and games played in 2011-12 with Buffalo, finishing with 20 points (10g, 10a) and 14 penalty minutes in 52 games.
A native of St. John's, Newfoundland, Adam played in four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the St. John's Fog Devils, Montreal Juniors and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, finishing with 220 points (113g, 107a) in 236 games. He registered a junior career high 90 points (49g, 41a) with 75 penalty minutes in 2009-10 with Cape Breton. He also helped Canada to a silver medal at the World Junior Championship tournament, posting 8 points (4g, 4a) with eight penalty minutes in six games.
