OKC Beats Charlotte for Fleming's First Win

Oklahoma City Barons News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Anton Lander had a goal and an assist and Richard Bachman made 29 saves for the Oklahoma City Barons who won in their first game under head coach Gerry Fleming by downing the Charlotte Checkers 4-1 Tuesday night at Time Warner Cable Arena.
Lander's goal opened the game's scoring at 5:13 of the first period when he grabbed the rebound of a Dillon Simpson shot from the left side of the slot and flipped the puck past Charlotte goalie Drew McIntyre for a 1-0 Barons lead. The goal was Lander's seventh of the season, with all seven having come on the road.
Sixty-three seconds later, Lander sent a pass to Jordan Oesterle at the point, who fired a shot on net that deflected to Matt Ford who chipped the rebound in for a power play goal and a 2-0 lead. The play marked the seventh consecutive Barons scoring play Lander had figured into, dating back to Dec. 12 against Grand Rapids.
At 14:27 of the second period, Charlotte cut Oklahoma City's lead to 2-1 when Ryan Murphy received the puck near center ice after exiting the penalty box and skated deep into the Barons zone where he sent a pass to a wide open Brendan Woods who fired a wrister past Bachman from the right side of the OKC net.
Oklahoma City countered just 11 seconds later when, off the ensuing faceoff, C.J. Ludwig found Kellen Jones whose shot deflected off a Charlotte defender's stick and past MacIntyre for Jones's first AHL goal and a 3-1 Barons lead.
After nearly 25 minutes of scoreless play, Jason Williams added an empty net goal at 19:12 to give Oklahoma City its 4-1 win.
The two teams meet again Thursday, Dec. 18 in a 6 p.m. CST start at Time Warner Cable Arena.
