Charlotte Checkers News Release

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - On Friday, Nov. 16, the Charlotte Checkers will present their second annual Redneck Night as they take on the Florida Everblades in a rematch of last year's second round Kelly Cup Playoff battle.

Friday will mark the first time that the Checkers will meet the Everblades this season. Last year, it was a three game sweep by the Everblades that led to the elimination of the Checkers from the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Currently, the Checkers are seated in the fifth spot in the South Division while the Everblades rank fourth and only one point separates the teams in the standings.

This year's game has been dubbed Redneck Night as the first 2,500 fans in attendance will get a free trucker hat presented by Hardee's. The team will also be playing plenty of rock and country music all night to go along with the night's theme.

During the game, the Checkers will be working with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) which is a project of international relief organization Samaritan's Purse. OCC has hand-delivered more than 54 million gift-filled shoe boxes to needy children in 120 countries around the world. The Checkers are asking that fans donate supplies, toys, necessity items and candy to the OCC set up just inside the gate. For more ideas, including a list of inappropriate items, visit www.samaritanspurse.org.

The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Nov. 16 against the Florida Everblades. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399. The Checkers are accepting deposits on all ticket packages. For season ticket information, please call 704-342-4-ICE or visit www.gocheckers.com.
