Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves lost to the Texas Wildcatters 2-1 in a shootout at home on Tuesday evening, 6-4 at Gwinnett on Friday evening, 6-5 at Charlotte on Saturday evening, and 7-3 at South Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
THIS WEEK:
November 13, Sea Wolves vs. Elmira Jackals, 7:05 p.m.; November 16, vs. Pensacola, 7:05 p.m.; November 17, vs. Pensacola, 7:05 p.m.
The Sea Wolves host Elmira for the first-ever match-up between the two clubs on Tuesday, November 13, and host the second and third meetings of the season against Pensacola on Friday, November 16, and Saturday, November 17.

Tuesday, November 6 vs. Texas, 1-2 SOL
The Texas Wildcatters defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 2-1 in a shootout at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Tuesday evening.
Texas opened the scoring early when Danick Bouchard took a pass from Marco Rosa and put it past Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey at the 51 second mark of the first period.
The Sea Wolves battled back and evened the score at 8:04 of the second period when Matt Deschamps took a pass from Marek Kvapil at the right point and fired a slapshot that beat Texas goaltender Anton Khudobin through traffic.
Mississippi managed 12 shots in the third period and two more in overtime, but neither team was able to score, and the game headed to the shootout, where Danick Bouchard and John McNabb scored for Texas, while Khudobin stopped 4-of-5 Sea Wolves shooters to hang on for the win.
Friday, November 9 @ Gwinnett Gladiators, 4-6 L
The Gwinnet Gladiators defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves by a score of 6-4 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday evening.
Derek Nesbitt got Gwinnnett on the board in the final minute of the first period when he blasted the rebound of a shot from Jim Jackson past Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey at 19:26. Jackson would give Gwinnett a 2-0 lead early in the second period when he scored at 6:24 of the second.
Lance Monych drew the Sea Wolves within one when he beat Gwinnett goaltender Dan Turple on the power play, batting a loose puck past him with Mississippi on the power play at 15:36 of the second.
Dirk Southern regained a two-goal lead for Gwinnett when he one-timed a pass from Jamie Milam past Cey for a power-play goal at 3:37 of the third period.
Radek Smolenak scored his first of the season when he took a feed from behind the goal from Gio Flamminio and fired a wrist shot past Turple at 4:43 of the third period. Marek Kvapil drew the Sea Wolves even when he pushed the puck along with Turple into the net at 8:04 of the third period.
Less than two minutes later, Gwinnett regained the lead when Lou Dickenson broke in on a two-on-one with Mike Hamilton and launched the puck past Cey at 9:53 of the third. Chad Painchaud notched the game-winner when he picked up a feed from Bryson Busniuk and beat Cey at 11:31.
Travis Lisabeth drew Mississippi within one when he poked a loose puck past Turple at 18:28 of the third period, but Colton Fretter iced the game with an empty-net goal at 19:15.
Saturday, November 10 @ Charlotte Checkers, 5-6 L
Radek Smolenak scored two goals for the Mississippi Sea Wolves and Jason Tejchma scored a power-play goal and added an assist in his Sea Wolves debut, but the Charlotte Checkers scored three power-play goals in the third period to defeat the Sea Wolves 6-5 at the Charlotte Bobcats Arena on Saturday evening.
Charlotte's Mark Lee broke in alone on net while the Sea Wolves were on the power play and beat Sea Wolves goaltender Len DiCostanzo to the stick side for a shorthand goal at 11:29 of the first period. On the same power play, Chase Trull banged home the rebound of a shot from Pat Oliveto to even the score at one apiece.
Shawn Vinz gave the Checkers a 2-1 lead at 17:23 of the first period when he took a feed from behind the goal line from Trevor Frishmon and roofed it past DiCostanzo. Radek Smolenak evened the score at two with his first of the game at 18:05.
Smolenak gave the Sea Wolves a 3-2 lead when he scored his second of the night on the power play at 9:26 of the second period. Trevor Frischmon drew Charlotte even at three with a wrist shot that beat DiCostanzo at 15:43.
Nathan Gillies gave Charlotte a 4-3 lead at 3:23 of the third period. Jason Tejchma evened the score for the Sea Wolves with his first goal in a Mississippi sweater on the power play at 9:23 of the third. Mississippi got into penalty trouble as the third period went on, and the Checkers' power-play capitalized on their opportunities, with Mark Lee scoring on a one-timer from Lee Falardeau at 13:18, and Dusty Jamieson scoring with a wrist shot from the right wing at 14:04. Gio Flamminio drew the Sea Wolves within one when he buried a goal-line feed from Mark Hurtubise at 15:46, but Charlotte would hold on for the win.
The Sea Wolves were 3-for-7 on the power play, and Len DiCostanzo made 31 saves on 37 shots.
Sunday, November 11 @ South Carolina Stingray, 3-7 L
Lance Monych scored a pair of power-play goals for the Mississippi Sea Wolves, but the South Carolina Stingrays exploded for four goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period as they defeated Mississippi before a crowd of 3,602 at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Andrew Gordon got the Stingrays on the board first, beating Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey with a wrist shot at 4:42 of the first period. The Sea Wolves would even the score when Lance Monych tipped a shot from Gio Flamminio past Stingrays goalie Josh Johnson at 14:18 of the first.
South Carolina retook the lead 25 seconds into the second period when Pierre-Luc O'Brien beat Cey low to the blocker side. Andrew Gordon scored his second of the night to give the Stingrays a 3-1 lead at 4:56, firing a pass from Marty Guerin past Cey. Matt Reid's goal on the power play at 8:38 would chase Cey from the Sea Wolves' net with Len DiCostanzo entering in relief. It took Paul McIlveen just 29 seconds to score on DiCostanzo, picking up the rebound of a shot from Marty Guerin and putting it upstairs.
Mike Falk drew the Sea Wolves within three just 59 seconds later, when he broke in alone and put the puck past Johnson at the 10:06 mark of the second. Lance Monych scored his second power-play goal of the evening when he tipped Radek Smolenak's shot past Johnson at 13:01 of the second.
Chris Chaput and Marty Guerin would score power-play goals at 13:04 and 14:35 of the third period, respectively, as the Stingrays held on for the 7-3 win.
