Fresno Falcons News Release
Stockton, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons picked up their second consecutive win with a 4-1 victory over the Stockton Thunder on Monday in front of 4,381 fans at Stockton Arena.
Fresno got off to a quick start, scoring two goals exactly three minutes apart midway through the first period. Josh Ciocco started the scoring with a power-play goal at 13:25. Ciocco gathered in a loose puck on the near post, and snuck a shot under the leg of goaltender Glenn Fisher for his second goal of the season.
The Falcons struck again at 16:25. Tyler Kindle made a nice play on the right-wing wall, keeping the puck in the zone, and feeding Matt Quinn in the corner. Quinn fed the puck through the crease onto the stick of Mike Ramsay, and he dribbled a shot beyond Fisher's reach for his first of the year.
Stockton cut the lead in half 7:46 into the second period. David Rohlfs took a wrist shot from the slot, which was stopped by Kris Mayotte, but Andy Contois gathered in the rebound in the left-wing circle, and sent a shot back to the front of the net for his fourth goal of the year.
Fresno's power play went back to work to regain its two-goal advantage after two periods. Kindle again set the play up, rushing into the Stockton zone and feeding Igor Gongalsky in the right-wing circle. Gongalsky then hit Brett Hemingway on the far post, and he put the puck into the net to give the Falcons a 3-1 lead.
Igor Gongalsky set the final, scoring an empty-net goal at 18:33 of the third period.
Kris Mayotte earned his second win of the season, turning aside 31 Stockton shots.
For the second straight games, the Falcons were 2-for-4 on the power play, while also going perfect on the penalty kill for the second straight time (4-for-4).
The Falcons continue their road trip on Wednesday in Alaska. Face-off at Sullivan Arena is set for 8:15 p.m. PST. Catch all of the action on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game show at 8:00.
