Texas sits atop South Division at 8-1-1 as they return home from perfect road trip

BEAUMONT, TX- The first-place Texas Wildcatters were greeted by excited fans Sunday morning as they returned from their perfect 6-0-0 road trip and begin preparations for an exciting three-game home series that begins Friday night versus the expansion Elmira Jackals.

The week began with a hard-fought 2-1 shootout win at Mississippi on Tuesday, continued with a 4-3 Friday victory in Pensacola, and culminated with a 5-4 win during a thrilling Saturday night shootout at Gwinnett.

John McNabb leads the Wildcatters with nine goals and 15 points. Danick Bouchard is riding a three-game point streak with two goals and two assists last week and ranks among the elite of ECHL rookies with seven goals and five assists for 12 points on the season. Anton Khudobin is 4-0-1 with a shutout and leads the ECHL with a goals-against average of 1.51 and a save percentage of .952.

At 8-1-1 (17 pts.) the Wildcatters are off to the best start in team history, the team was 6-2-2 through ten games in 2006-07.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16 v. ELMIRA JACKALS 7:30 PM

NOTES: Friday's game is The Medical Center of Southeast Texas Night, the first 100 fans will receive FREE Wildcatters clappers. Friday's meeting will mark the first between the two teams, 2007-08 is the first for Elmira in the ECHL after making the change from the United Hockey League (UHL). The Jackals, from upstate New York, are 5-4-0-1 through ten games and are currently fourth in the American Conference North Division.

Fans under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the skating session and all are encouraged to bring their own skates as there is limited availability of public use skates.

Tuesday, Nov. 6 @ Mississippi Sea Wolves: 2-1 SOW

Danick Bouchard scored his sixth goal of the season 53 seconds into the game but the Wildcatters would not score again in the remaining 64 minutes of play as they squeaked past the Mississippi Sea Wolves 2-1 in a shootout for their fifth consecutive victory. Anton Khudobin stopped 29 shots for the win, Bouchard and John McNabb scored in the shootout (2-1). PP: 0-for-10 PK: 9-for-9

Friday, Nov. 9 @ Pensacola Ice Pilots: 4-3 WIN

Marc Fulton scored his first professional goal at 15:16 of the second period to break a 2-2 tie but it was Danick Bouchard's team-leading seventh goal of the season a minute later that proved the game winner as the Wildcatters (7-1-0-1) held on to win at Pensacola (1-7-0-1) 4-3 Friday night. Peter Aubry collected 26 saves in the win and Marco Rosa and John McNabb also scored for Texas

Saturday, Nov. 10 @ Gwinnett Gladiators: 5-4 SOW

Anton Khudobin stopped 59 of 63 shots in regulation and overtime plus four of five in the shootout, John McNabb scored twice, and round one between two South Division heavyweights did not disappoint as Texas escaped with a 5-4 shootout victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators Saturday night. With the win the Wildcatters own the tiebreaker between the two teams who own identical records of 8-1-0-1, best in the entire ECHL. Brandon Benedict and Marc Fulton also scored for the Wildcatters.
