COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - After they were held to just 1 hit over the first 8 innings, the Storm Chasers rallied in the 9th and 10th to defeat Colorado Springs 6-5 on Friday night at Security Services Field.

Colorado Springs struck first on a Mauricio Dubon home run in the bottom of the 1st inning against Clay Buchholz .

The Chasers responded with 3 runs in the top of the 3rd, aided by some Sky Sox mistakes. Bubba Starling and Jack Lopez walked, and Humberto Arteaga put down a sacrifice bunt. Colorado Springs pitcher Alec Asher tried to record the out at 3rd, but threw the ball into left field, allowing both Starling and Lopez to score. Paulo Orlando followed by grounding into a fielder's choice, but Mauricio Dubon also threw errantly, and Arteaga scored to make it 3-1 Omaha.

Buchholz battled through 5 innings for the Storm Chasers. He allowed 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 1.

Asher was lifted after 3.1 innings for the Sky Sox; he was charged with 3 runs (0 earned) on just 1 hit, with 1 strikeout and 3 walks.

Colorado Springs rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th against Brandon Maurer . Jacob Nottingham tripled, Keon Broxton singled, and after Broxton stole 2nd, Kyle Wren singled Broxton home. It was 3-3.

The Sky Sox grabbed the lead in the bottom of the 7th. Ji-Man Choi drew a 1-out walk, and after Andres Blanco grounded into a force out, Blanco took 2nd on a wild pitch. Jacob Nottingham then singled Blanco around to put Colorado Springs back in front, 4-3.

That looked like it would be enough for the Sky Sox pitching staff, who allowed only a single to Bubba Starling in the top of the 4th, and held Omaha hitless otherwise until the top of the 9th inning. Colorado Springs retired 13 consecutive Omaha batters follwing Starling's hit. Tim Dillard pitched 3.2 flawless relief innings; Mike Zagurski recorded the final 2 outs in the top of the 8th and was asked to get Ryan O'Hearn to begin the 9th.

But O'Hearn broke the spell, belting a game-tying solo homer to make it 4-4. It was his 2nd home run of the season.

Jason Adam (W, 1-0) kept the game tied in the bottom of the 9th, and in the top of the 10th, the Storm Chasers took the lead immediately against Jorge Lopez (L, 1-1). With Bubba Starling automatically beginning the frame at 2nd base, Jack Lopez singled him home and took 2nd on the throw. Lopez advanced to 3rd on a groundout, and scored on a groundout by Paulo Orlando, making it 6-4 Omaha.

In the bottom of the 10th, Jacob Nottingham was wild pitched to 3rd by Adam, and Keon Broxton singled him in to cut Omaha's lead to 6-5. But Adam retired the next 3 batters to preserve the win, and give the Chasers their 2nd consecutive victory.

The Storm Chasers (8-13) will continue the series against the Sky Sox tomorrow evening at 5:00 Central time. RHP Scott Barlow (1-0, 0.75) will pitch for Omaha, while RHP Bubba Derby (0-0, 2.29) will toss for Colorado Springs.
