Bees Rally for Victory in El Paso

The Salt Lake Bees rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to edge the El Paso Chihuahuas 6-5 on Thursday night.

El Paso scored four runs in the first off of Salt Lake starter John Lamb, but the Bees began their comeback in the second inning on a two run homer by Rymer Liriano. Michael Hermosillo led off the third with a triple and scored on a game tying two run shot by David Fletcher. Kaleb Cowart followed with a double for the Bees seventh consecutive extra base hit. Cowart would score the go ahead run on a triple to right field by Jose Miguel Fernandez. El Paso tied the game at 5-5 on a leadoff home run in the fourth by Javy Guerra, but Salt Lake would score the winning run in the sixth. Jabari Blash led off with a double to left. One out later, he advanced to third on a single by Juan Graterol and scored on a ground out by Eric Young, Jr.

After the Bees took the lead, the bullpen shut down El Paso, as Akeel Morris and Ian Krol each worked two scoreless innings with Krol recording his second save of the season. Former BYU pitcher Taylor Cole (2-0) picked up the win, allowing one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout. Fletcher had two hits and two runs batted in to extend his hitting streak to ten games, while Hermosillo, Blash and Juan Graterol each added two hits. Fernandez added one hit and one RBI to stretch his hitting streak to nine games, as the Bees even up the series at one win apiece.
