Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees rallied to score three runs in the eighth inning for a 7-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas on Friday night.

The Bees trailed 5-4 with two out in the eighth when Chris Carter drilled a 1-2 pitch off of the batters eye in center field for his ninth home run of the season to tie the game. Jabari Blash doubled, Rymer Liriano walked and both moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Ryan Schimpf dumped a pop fly into center for a two run single to give Salt Lake the lead. The Bees grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first on an opposite field home run to left by Kaleb Cowart and extended it to 2-0 in the fourth on an RBI single by Carter. With the lead cut to 2-1, Jose Briceno gave the Bees a three run lead in the fifth with a two run homer to left. El Paso came back to take the lead with two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take that 5-4 lead.

Dylan Unsworth (2-0) picked up the win, as he went four innings in relief of starter Ivan Pineyro and allowed two runs on two hits before retiring the last eleven batters he faced. Pineyro worked the first five innings and gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits. Carter and Schimpf led Salt Lake with two hits and two runs batted in each, while Cowart and Blash each added a pair of hits. David Fletcher doubled in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to eleven games, as the Bees have now won two of the first three games of this five game series in El Paso.
