Sounds Go Quiet in Shutout Loss

NASHVILLE - The bats went silent for the Nashville Sounds in a 3-0 loss to the New Orleans Baby Cakes Friday night in front of 7,252 fans at First Tennessee Park.

New Orleans starter Adam Conley was one run better than Nashville starter James Naile. Conley fired six scoreless innings and earned his first win of the season while Naile was tagged with a tough-luck loss after he allowed one run in seven frames.

The lone run allowed by Naile came in the fourth when the Baby Cakes started the inning with three straight hits. Second baseman Cristhian Adames gave the Cakes a 1-0 lead with a run-scoring base hit through the right side.

Nashville's offense never got rolling against Conley who entered the game with a 13.14 ERA in four starts. The southpaw escaped a bases loaded jam in the third, and allowed just three hits in his six innings.

New Orleans added a pair of runs in the eighth on an error and sacrifice fly to take a 3-0 lead.

Nashville managed five hits on the night, two off the bat of left fielder BJ Boyd.

The five-game series continues Saturday night at First Tennessee Park. Right-hander Frankie Montas (0-2, 5.25) starts for the Sounds against right-hander Zac Gallen (2-1, 2.25) for the Baby Cakes. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

Post-Game Notes

With tonight's 3-0 loss, the Sounds dropped to 11-10 on the season.

The loss snapped Nashville's three-game winning streak, two games shy of equaling their season-long five-game winning streak from April 14-19.

The Sounds were shut out for the third time this season (April 8 and 13).

Starter James Naile threw seven innings, equaling his season-high. Naile is the only Nashville starter to go at least seven innings in a start this year.

BJ Boyd went 2-for-3 with a walk, notching his fifth multi-hit game of the season. It's tied for second most on the team with Slade Heathcott, behind only Dustin Fowler's eight.
