Chasers Allow Season-High 15 Runs, Drop Game Four

PAPILLION, Neb. - Left fielder Brent Rooker hit his second homer in as many games with Omaha and designated hitter Brewer Hicklen followed it up with the Chasers' sixth back-to-back homers of the season. The Chasers plated six in the eighth but couldn't climb back into the game that the Saints won 15-6.

Lincoln, Nebraska native Michael Helman started the game with a triple for St. Paul (50-51), his fifth extra-base hit of the series. The Saints scored on a throwing error from right-hander Jackson Kowar (Loss, 3-7) who was trying to pickoff a runner on first base. St. Paul would add another run in the inning on a Roy Morales sacrifice fly.

Kowar settled down and got the Saints out, in order, to leave the score at 2-0 in the second.

Omaha's (50-52) right fielder Drew Waters, catcher Freddy Fermin, and Rooker were the only Storm Chasers to record hits through the first few innings.

Left-hander Eric Skoglund came in to start the third on the mound for Omaha, allowing a four spot in his first frame. The Saints hit a single before Matt Wallner was hit by a pitch. A stolen base and an RBI single from Caleb Hamilton added a run before Morales hit his second homer to put St. Paul ahead 6-0.

Dereck Rodríguez (Win, 6-3) tossed the first six innings for the Saints, retiring the final 14 batters in order, leaving the game with a 9-0 lead.

A rally from St. Paul that included three doubles and a single put the Saints ahead with a commanding lead in the seventh.

Second baseman Iván Castillo got on base with two away in the seventh, the first Chaser to reach base since the second inning. A flyout got Tyler Thornburg out of the inning without allowing Omaha to score.

Wallner hit a two-run homer in the eighth to extend the Saints lead to double-digits.

The Chasers loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth, scoring their first run on reliever Ben Heller. A walk from I. Castillo and a single from first baseman Gabriel Cancel put the first two men on for Omaha. A fielding error allowed Waters to reach and load the bases.

A force out cleared one runner before a three-run homer from Rooker cut into the Saints lead some more. Hicklen followed Rooker's homer with one of his own, but St. Paul held an 11-5 lead after eight innings.

St. Paul put up four more runs in the ninth, highlighted by a Helman's fourth homer of the series.

Omaha was not able to plate anymore runs in the ninth, with the Saints taking the game by a 15-6 final.

Omaha and St. Paul will face off Saturday in game five-of-six with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone.

Tomorrow is Outdoors Night, presented by NWTF. Omaha will be wearing specialty camo jerseys that will be auctioned off in-game. It is also Bands & Brews presented by J&M Displays and Werner Enterprises with a special craft brew and live band before the game.
