Charlotte Checkers News Release
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte Checkers fans attending the February 4th hockey game vs. Columbia at Bobcats Arena will enjoy a bonus performance by "the hottest cover band in the land." The red-hot, soul-kickin', rock band CHARITY CASE will set up their arena-sized production center on the ice post-game and perform a one-hour, live concert. Admission is free to those who attend the game. The Checkers have pledged the first $2,500 to Ace & TJ's Grin Kids charity, with the remainder of funds split between the team and the charity. If the ticket is purchased via the CHARITY CASE website the price of the ticket goes directly to Grin Kids. Fresh off opening at Bobcats Arena for Bon Jovi, CHARITY CASE has been drawing sold out crowds and rave reviews wherever they've played. "Who would have thought we'd have played to sold out venues all over the area?" commented Ace, the five-member band's lead vocalist and one-half of the top rated Ace and TJ morning drive radio show on Kiss 95.1 from 6:00-10:00 a.m. EST.
Joining Ace as co-organizer of CHARITY CASE is Eddie Z , Music Director and lead guitarist. The three remaining band members are Clifton Vann on guitar, Eric "Big E" McRae on bass guitar, and Shane Marshall on drums. All five musicians have become close friends and have great fun playing together and raising money and awareness for Ace & TJ's Grin Kids.
Debuting in 2001, CHARITY CASE made a commitment from the beginning to raise funds for Ace & TJ's Grin Kids, a 501(c)3 which benefits children who are terminally ill and chronically disabled, ages five to twelve, in the Charlotte listening area. Along with an auction and other fund-raising events each year, Grin Kids pays for children, their parents and their siblings to go to Disney World. All expenses are covered including the charter flight, hotel, park passes, meal coupons and Disney Dollars. CHARITY CASE is the largest source of income for the Grin Kids program.
The Checkers are committed to supporting Grin Kids, according to team president Jeff Longo. "What can be more important than helping to make a child's dream come true?" asked Longo. "These little kids and their families are going through a tough time and we commend Ace & TJ and the members of CHARITY CASE for stepping up to help. The Checkers organization and players are proud to be part of this fantastic program."
