FRESNO, Calif. - Alaska's all-star representatives, forward Alex Leavitt and defenseman Ryan Gaucher, played a key role as the National Conference defeated the American Conference 15-8 at the 2006 ECHL All-Star Skills Competition.

Gaucher, who will be making his second start and his third appearance in an ECHL All-Star Game tomorrow night, scored three times in the RBK Hockey Rapid Fire event and, like Leavitt, scored in the RBK Hockey Breakaway Relay to close out the competition. Leavitt, who also participated in the In Glas Co Puck Control Relay, likely will be on a line featuring Matt Craig of Utah and Marco Peluso of Las Vegas when tomorrow's game starts at 6:00 p.m. AST.

While the rest of the Aces are enjoying a four-day break, forwards Ryan Ramsay and Cam Keith as well as defenseman Patrick Wellar have been called up by Alaska's AHL affiliate in Peoria. Ramsay scored the only goal that netminder Patrick Lalime would need 12 seconds into the second period as the Rivermen shut out Houston 3-0. Keith managed one shot on goal and, like Wellar, finished even on the night.

The Aces (30-6-3) return to practice Thursday in preparation for a two-game set at Sullivan Arena this weekend against Augusta. Game times have been set for Saturday at 2:05 p.m. and Sunday at 5:05 p.m. All Alaska Aces games are broadcast live on KFQD AM 750 and at www.alaskaaces.com. In addition, all home games and selected road contests will be available on a pay-per-view basis on the internet, courtesy of B2 Networks.
