Club de Foot Montreal News Release

NEW YORK, New York - CF Montréal will be back in MLS action this Wednesday when Hernán Losada's men take on New York City FC at 7:30pm at Yankee Stadium (MLS Season Pass, BPM Sports, TSN 690).

After shutting out New England 1-0 on Saturday night at Stade Saputo, the Montrealers will face a direct rival in the playoff race as the New Yorkers sit 13th in the Eastern Conference, nine points behind Montreal, now 8th in the East.

Montreal will be looking for a second win at Yankee Stadium in nine games. The visitors hold a 1-5-3 record in the Big Apple, with a goal differential of -10. In their last encounter, the Montrealers fell to New York 1-0 on July 1 at Stade Saputo. Argentine Matías Pellegrini scored the match's lone goal.

Additionally, some important milestones and Club records are on the verge of being broken. Having blanked New England last time out, homegrown goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois equalled Evan Bush's record of 10 shutouts in a single season (2018).

In addition, Zachary Brault-Guillard and Mathieu Choinière are two (98) and four games (94) respectively away from crossing the 100-game mark in MLS with the Club. Finally, midfielder Samuel Piette's next game will be his 151st, which would equal the record held by Patrice Bernier for the number of games played by a field player in the MLS regular season.

New York City FC, meanwhile, is still searching for its first MLS win since returning from the Leagues Cup, following consecutive defeats at home to Minnesota (0-2) and away to Cincinnati (0-3) last Saturday. In fact, their last MLS win dates back precisely to the 1-0 victory over the Bleu-blanc-noir on July 1st.
