2023 Inter Miami CF Special Olympics Unified Team Earns a Win in Trip to New York

Inter Miami CF's 2023 Special Olympics Unified Team presented by Florida Blue was in action over the weekend in New York. The team, which is made up of athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and Unified partners - athletes without an IDD - earned a 6-0 win over the New York Red Bulls Special Olympics Unified Team on the afternoon of Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Red Bulls Training Facility.

The team was led to victory by goals from Special Olympic Athletes Alain Figueroa and Alan Carrizo (2), who also tallied an assist, as well as goals by Unified Partners Sky Carrizo and Gabriel Carrizo (2).

Following the win, the team attended the First Team's 0-2 win over the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Saturday evening. The Inter Miami CF 2023 Special Olympics Unified Team team met with Inter Miami First Team players at the stadium to wish them luck ahead of the MLS regular season matchup.

Additionally, prior to making the trip to New York the team was gearing up for the exciting game by carrying out training sessions at the Club's state-of-the-art Florida Blue Training Center.
