FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (12-5-7; 43 pts. - 3rd in East.)will host the New York Red Bulls (7-10-8; 29 pts. - 11th in East.) on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium. The midweek contest kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and is free to watch in English and Spanish on Apple TV. Wednesday's match can also be heard on the radio locally on 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies on the call, and 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese.
With five home games remaining in the regular season, New England returns to Foxborough still unbeaten in league play at Gillette Stadium at 9-0-3. The best home start to a season in club history will be put to the test against the Red Bulls, which owns a 1-6-4 record on the road this season. The Revolution are still one of only two MLS teams without a loss at home, along with FC Cincinnati. In the last five home games of the regular season, the Revolution have posted a perfect 5-0-0 record, outscoring opponents at a 14-4 rate. In New England's most recent MLS home match, the Revolution registered a 4-0 shutout victory over D.C. United, highlighted by a two-goal performance from midfielder Ian Harkes, on July 15.
The Revolution returned to MLS play last Saturday, falling by a narrow 1-0 margin to CF Montréal at Stade Saputo. Midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye, who has now started five straight games in all competitions, suited up for first MLS appearance in a Revolution uniform, playing all 90 minutes. Midfielder Tomás Chancalay, acquired on loan from Racing Club this summer, registered his New England debut with a 28-minute appearance off the bench. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Earl Edwards Jr. and defender Omar Gonzalez each collected their second starts of the 2023 season. If selected again on Wednesday, it will mark Gonzalez's 250th MLS regular season start.
New England leads the all-time series against the Red Bulls, 34-31-17, though the sides have split the last six encounters with three victories apiece. Midfielder Carles Gil owns a team-high eight assists in seven career games played against the Red Bulls. Gil ranks second in MLS with 12 assists this season, one behind the league lead. The Red Bulls fell to Inter Miami CF, 2-0, over the weekend and sit within striking distance of a playoff spot, only three points below the line.
