Keys to the Match: Turnaround

New York City FC News Release
New York City Football Club host CF Montréal on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
The Boys in Blue return to action in a 7:30pm ET kick-off at Yankee Stadium.
Here are the Keys to the Match, presented by Ford...
Turnaround
The nature of the MLS schedule means that teams can either maintain momentum or turn it around quite easily.
NYCFC will take on two Canadian sides this week, with Montréal and Vancouver Whitecaps visiting the Five Boroughs in a matter of days. That gives Nick Cushing and his team the perfect opportunity to grab six big points and kickstart a push toward the line.
While the result against FC Cincinnati is disappointing, the perfect way to respond would be to claim three points on Wednesday night.
Déjà Vu
One of NYCFC's better results in 2023 came against CF Montréal.
A dogged and determined showing back in July secured NYCFC a vital three points on the road, with Matías Pellegrini's scissor kick a deserved way to decide the game.
In studying the performance more there were significant positives alongside the result. The group were defensively resolute and limited Montréal to just three shots on target. They were rewarded with a moment of brilliance at the other end to complete the perfect away performance.
Bringing that same energy to Yankee Stadium on Wednesday will give the team a platform to try and secure another big win as they chase a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Home Comforts
A night game at Yankee Stadium can often bring out something special.
Players both past and present have spoken of the impact the atmosphere - and more importantly you the fans - bring to these occasions.
Returning home for two games is a massive boost to the players as they seek out a victory, and that is because they know you will bring the energy like you always have.
The team now have five games at home in a row, and hopefully, they can start the run with some home comforts on Wednesday.
