The six game series will open on Monday, November 17th when the QMJHL will host Team Russia in Cape Breton. After a second game versus the QMJHL, the series will shift to the OHL and specifically the Royal City, as Team Russia squares off against the top OHL prospects for Team Canada at the Sleeman Centre. A few Storm players have represented Canada in the Canada-Russia Challenge including Ryan Parent, who went on to win a pair of gold medals in 2006 and 2007. Last season, Drew Doughty played in his second consecutive ADT Canada-Russia Challenge before earning a spot on Team Canada and capturing gold in January.
Last season the CHL won four of the six games of the series and Team Canada would later go on to defeat Sweden to win the gold medal at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championships. Russia defeated the United States to win the bronze medal.
The ADT Canada/Russia Challenge features a team of CHL All-Stars representing each regional league that will compete against the Russian National Junior team. Each of the three regional league teams are selected by a committee of league General Managers that work with Al Murray, Hockey Canada's head scout for the Canadian National Junior team.
All six games will be broadcast nationally on Rogers Sportsnet with RDS televising both games from the QMJHL.
