OHL and Shaw Cable Partner to Broadcast Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds Games

Published on November 13, 2008 under Ontario Hockey League (OHL) News Release

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League and Shaw Cable today announced that Shaw Cable will be broadcasting 30 live OHL games featuring the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The action begins on Shaw TV Channel 10 on Friday November 14 when the Greyhounds host the OHL's top team the Windsor Spitfires with the puck slated to drop at 7:30 pm.

The broadcast schedule consists of 16 home games and 14 road games scheduled over the next five months including the final two games of the regular season schedule to be played March 13 and 14 in Sault Ste. Marie. The current partnership of 30 games more than doubles last season's coverage of 13 games. This is the second year of the broadcast partnership between the OHL and Shaw Cable.

"This partnership brings fans of Sault Ste. Marie closer to the action and allows them to follow not only the Greyhounds, but all of the bright young stars in the league," said David Branch, Commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League. "We are pleased that the amount of coverage has shown significant growth after just one season and look forward to continuing this partnership in the future."

The schedule features 11 games between the Greyhounds and West Division rivals including all six games against the Windsor Spitfires. 11 of the other games are against Western Conference opponents with eight games against teams from the Eastern Conference.
