Beuekbeoom Named to U-17 Roster

For the 2nd time in as many years the Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club will have a representative on Team Ontario at the upcoming 2009 World Under -17 Hockey Challenge.

In the announcement made earlier today, Team Director of Operations Robert Kitamura announced the 22-man roster that included Soo Greyhounds defenseman Brock Beukeboom. The first-year Greyhound blueliner will join fellow OHLers Erik Gudbranson (Kingston), Ryan O'Connor (Barrie), Nathan Chiarlitti (Sarnia), Keevin Cutting (Owen Sound), Stephen Silas (Belleville) and Jeff Braithwaite (Peterborough)

Through 17 games this year with the Hounds, Beukeboom has 5 assists to go along with a +1 rating. The Uxbridge, ON recorded his first OHL point in the second game of the season, September 20 at Owen Sound where he recorded a pair of assists.

Beukeboom and Team Ontario enter this year's tournament as the defending champions. It was one year ago that they defeated Team USA 3-0 in the championship game. Greyhounds goalie Bryce O'Hagan recorded the shutout with 28 saves in the game.

This years event will be held in Port Alberni, British Columbia and run from December 29th, 2008 to January 4th, 2009.
