CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Cedar Rapids blanked the Burlington Bees, 2-0, on Wednesday night. The Kernels scored both runs in the bottom of the first and have now won four of their last five contests.

Ethan Mildren (1-0) earned the win in his 2015 Kernels debut. The right-hander retired nine in a row at one point and yielded just two hits and three walks while striking out eight in 5 2/3 shutout innings.

Randy LeBlanc (3) recorded the hold for Cedar Rapids. LeBlanc allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three in 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. LeBlanc's 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief extended the right-hander's consecutive scoreless innings streak to 23.

Cam Booser (7) picked up the save with a scoreless top of the ninth. The Southpaw struck out a pair while yielding a hit and a walk in one inning of relief.

Michael Bolaski (4-6) suffered the loss for the Bees. The 23-year-old allowed two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out a pair in six innings.

Nick Gordon led the Kernels with three hits. Gordon finished 3-for-4 on the night with two singles and a double.

Cedar Rapids took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a pair of two out runs. Zack Larson recorded the first hit of the game with a two-out infield single. Alex Real followed Larson with an infield single of his own, giving the Kernels runners on first and second. Edgar Corcino's two-run double down the right field line scored both Larson and Real, putting the Kernels in front of the Bees, 2-0.

The Kernels conclude their nine-game home stand tomorrow evening against the Burlington Bees. First pitch in the series finale is at 6:35 p.m. from Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium. RHP Keaton Steele (2-2, 4.18) gets the start for Cedar Rapids on Thursday while RHP Garrett Nuss (1-0, 1.88) counters for Burlington.
