COMSTOCK PARK, MI - Ross Seaton recorded strikeouts when he needed them most as the West Michigan Whitecaps defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps 5-2 Wednesday night at Fifth Third Ballpark.

West Michigan struck first by scoring two runs in the second inning when Francisco Contreras drove in the game's first run with an infield single. Rashad Brown's fielder's choice plated a second run to give the 'Caps a 2-0 lead. The Whitecaps added two more in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk to Ross Kivett, and a TinCaps error to extend the lead to 4-0. The TinCaps struck for two in the fifth, but Brown thwarted a rally with a leaping catch in the left-field corner to rob Fort Wayne infielder Trae Santos of a hit that would've tied the game.

Seaton (6-3) earned his sixth Whitecaps win after pitching 6.2 innings allowing just two runs. The righty allowed eight hits and walked two, but struck out eight TinCaps hitters. The total was one short of tying Seaton's career-high of nine, set back on August 27, 2012 vs. San Antonio. Four of his eight strikeouts we're recorded with runners in scoring position. Thomas Dorminy (5-5) allowed four runs over 3.2 innings in suffering his fifth loss of 2015. Joe Jimenez pitched a perfect ninth to record his fifth save in relief. The Whitecaps improve to 32-33, while the TinCaps fall to 28-36 on the season.
