Sacramento River Cats News Release

LAS VEGAS - After the River Cats came back to tie the game at four in the top of the fifth, Las Vegas would pull away to escape with a 10-5 win over Sacramento in Friday's series finale at Cashman Field.

The River Cats staked Las Vegas to a 4-1 lead after three innings, but would storm back to tie the game in the fifth. In the top of the fifth inning, the Cats sent nine men to the plate-scoring three times-but left the bases loaded when Josh Horton grounded out to end the inning. The 51s would make the River Cats pay, outscoring the visitors 6-1 the rest of the way, winning their third-straight game and sending the Cats home on a three-game losing streak.

River Cats starter Andrew Werner (1-3) was on the losing end Friday, allowing seven earned runs while striking out six and walking five batters.

Offensively for the Cats, Stephen Vogt continued his torrid start to the season, going 3-for-4 and raising his average to a league-best .521. Luke Montz also added a three-hit night, while Grant Green's multi-hit game was his fourth straight. Green's 2-for-4 game raised his average to .315.

Greg Peavey (1-0) earned the win in relief of Las Vegas starter Zack Wheeler, who walked six batters in 4.1 innings but did not figure in the decision.

The River Cats return home on Saturday night for Sutter Health Fireworks Saturday, which opens an eight-game homestand against the Reno Aces and Salt Lake Bees. In the series opener, Cats RHP Jesse Chavez (1-1, 2.45 ERA) will square off against Reno's Randall Delgado (0-1, 10.03 ERA), with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Raley Field.
