'Cats Comeback Comes up Short in Series Finale

The Tri-City ValleyCats' were unable to polish off a three-game sweep of the Staten Island Yankees on Tuesday night, losing by a final score of 2-0.

Trey Dawson and Jeremy Pena each provided an offensive spurt for the ValleyCats, rallying two hits throughout the night.

The ValleyCats stranded the potential tying runs on base in the ninth inning after Trey Dawson picked up his second hit of the night.

Dawson ended his Minor League debut with a 2-for-4 day at the plate.

Hansel Paulino was tagged with the loss for Tri-City, giving up the game's only two runs in the fourth inning.

The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the ValleyCats, dropping their record to 7-5 on the year, still in command of first place in the New York-Penn League's Stedler Division.

After getting the day off on Wednesday, the ValleyCats will welcome the Hudson Valley Renegades to town on Thursday night with first pitch slated for 7 p.m.

Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network 15 minutes prior to the start of the game.
