Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Hartford, CT - Yard Goats outfielder Casey Golden broke a 5-5 tie with a solo home run in the seventh inning, leading Hartford to a 6-5 victory against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Tuesday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford. The Yard Goats battled back after trailing 5-0 in the second inning and cranked four homers leading to six unanswered runs. It was the first game of the six-game series against the New York Mets affiliate. The game was delayed 1:51 due to rain in the top of the first inning. Coco Montes, Elehuris Montero, Max George and Golden all hit home runs, Matt Dennis worked 3.2 scoreless innings for the win, and Reagan Todd struck out the final batter for the save. Montero and Montes have each hit three home runs over the last two games.
The Rumble Ponies took a 3-0 lead three batters into the ballgame, as Mark Vientos cranked a three-run homer off Hartford starter Nate Harris. Binghamton added a pair of runs in the second inning on Jake Mangum's RBI single and Brett Baty's sacrifice fly, giving the Rumble Ponies a 5-0 lead.
The Yard Goats responded with three runs in the second inning off Binghamton starter Jose Butto. Coco Montes led off the inning with a solo home run into the left field seats. Hartford's next two runs came on double steals with both Willie MacIver and Max George stealing home and making it a 5-3 game.
The Yard Goats made it a 5-4 game in the third inning, as Elehuris Montero smashed his team-leading 18th home run into the left field seats. Hartford had a chance to take the lead with runners at second and third base but Butto pitched out of trouble with a lineout and strikeout.
The Yard Goats tied the game 5-5 in the sixth inning as Max George went deep against reliever Allan Winans for his sixth home run of the season. Then, Casey Golden broke the tie with the go-ahead solo homer in the seventh inning to give the Yard Goats a 6-5 lead. It was Golden's first game with the Yard Goats since May 14th.
