Capitols Win Streak Halted at Seven After 5-2 Defeat to Green Bay

October 30, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release

The Madison Capitols saw their club record seven-game win streak come to an end tonight after falling to the Green Bay Gamblers 5-2 at home.

Tonight was the Capitols first regulation loss since their season opener on September 23.

"The feeling is still the same that it was a month ago," Capitols head coach Tom Upton said. Green Bay is a good team. They outcompeted us in the first couple minutes of that game and went up early. When you're chasing like that, it's hard to recover against a good team."

Madison wouldn't net their first goal of the game until 8:27 of the 2nd period. Nick DeSantis buried his fourth goal of the season just 10 seconds into a power play opportunity. Quinn Finley and Luke Mittelstadt were credited with the helpers. Trailing 4-1, Jack Musa tipped in his team leading seventh goal of the season with 45 seconds left in the 2nd frame off a Blake Dangos shot from the point. Caps captain Jack Horbach tallied the secondary assist on the lamp lighter.

The Capitols eight-game point streak was their third longest in club history. It is their longest point streak since the 2017-18 season when they tallied 10 games in a row with a point.

The Caps and Gamblers will wrap up this home-and-home series tomorrow afternoon in Green Bay. Puck drop is slated for 3:05 p.m.
