Omaha Lancers News Release

OMAHA, NE. - The Tri-City Storm paid a visit to Ralston Arena tonight (10/29) to take on the Lancers in game one of a two game series this weekend.

Coming off of their first two losses of the season just last week to both Sioux City Sioux Falls, the Lancers knew they'd either come out with killed confidence or harder than ever. And harder than ever is what Omaha got.

The first period resulted in three goals for Tri-City as Ilya Nikolaev (PP), Kieran Cebrian, and Graham Gamache all got pucks past Omaha goaltender, Kevin Pasche to end the first period up 3-0.

The second period made it look like the Lancers stopped the bleeding, having similar shot counts, as The Storm lead in second period shots, 12-8, and had lots of back-and-forth hockey for 17 minutes. At that point, all signs were pointing towards a 3-0 lead for Tri-City through two periods. But then Mitchell Miller found the back of the net off a feed from Kieran Cebrian to go up 4-0 with 2:54 to go in the period. Sending Omaha to the locker room down by four through 40 minutes of play.

The third period was a hot start for The Storm as Jeremy Wilmer weaved through both Omaha defenseman, then beat Pasche over the blocker to extend their lead to 5-0 with 18:34 left in the matchup.

The rest of the game didn't amount to anything except a large amount of minor penalties for each team. Including Nick Perna and Dane Dowiak being issued minor penalties for roughing, with a 10-minute misconduct.

This 5-0 loss made the Lancers fall to 4-4-1-0 on the season as they sit alone in 6th place in the western conference.

This game improved Tri-City to 6-2-0-0 on the year as they sit in 3rd place in the western conference.

The Lancers will be traveling to Kearney, Nebraska tomorrow (10/30) to try to get revenge on the Tri-City Storm. Puck is set to drop at 7:05 P.M. and the game can be caught on MixLR and HockeyTV.
