Capitols Fall 5-3 to Green Bay

Madison Capitols News Release
The Capitols played host to the Gamblers on Friday night to open a two-game home stand against Green Bay. This was the second matchup between the two teams as the two teams faced off back in October. In the October game, Madison battled back to score four unanswered goals to win in overtime.
In the first period, the Capitols got on the board quickly. It was a power play opportunity allowing Madison the 1-0 lead thanks to the first of the season for Nick Wallace. Wallace's goal was a seeing-eye shot from the point. The 1-0 lead did not last long for Madison with Green Bay scoring under thirty seconds later.
Madison was not done scoring in the first, though. A turnover at the blue-line corralled by the newest Capitol, Tyler Grahme, sparked a great opportunity in front of the net. He shot from the high slot, and pure want earned Peter Cisar a backhanded goal pushing it past the Green Bay goaltender. The Caps took the 2-1 lead into intermission number one.
The second period had Green Bay in the offensive zone often as they found themselves on the power play three times in the second. The Gamblers were able to capitalize on the man-advantage all three times and scored three unanswered to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.
In the third, the Capitols found their way back within one thanks to a wide open, back-door goal for Miko Matikka on a play set up by his line mates, Finley and Kuzma. The deficit of one went back to two at 5-3 and Green Bay withheld that lead throughout the remainder of the game.
