
Canaries Rally Falls Just Short vs. Railroaders

SIOUX FALLS - The Sioux Falls Canaries fell in game two of the three-game series vs. the Cleburne Railroaders 16-12 Wednesday. The Birds will finish up their series with Cleburne Thursday night at 7:05 PM before heading to Jackson, Tennessee Friday to take on the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
The Canaries trailed by as many as eight and were down 14-7 heading into the bottom of the eighth. The club rallied there for five runs to make the contest 14-12 before falling just short.
Angel Ventura (3-1) was credited with the loss for the Canaries. Ventura was responsible for 11 of Cleburne's 19 hits and 10 runs (nine earned). Garrett Alexander (2-2) for Cleburne was credited with the win. Alexander was responsible for eight hits and seven runs (five earned). Kyle Chavez was credited with the save after allowing one hit and striking out two Canaries in 1.1 innings. The save was his first of the season.
Despite losing, the Canaries bats remained hot. The club picked up 13 hits for 12 runs. Jabari Henry, Mitch Glasser, and Trey Michalczewski were all able to go deep for the Birds. Henry, Glasser, Mike Hart, and Wyatt Ulrich were each able to rack up two runs.
The home run was the fourth of the year for Henry, the seventh of the year for Michalczewski and the first of the year for Glasser.
The series finale will be a matchup between LHP Austin Fairchild (0-2, 3.52 ERA) for the Railroaders and RHP Eddie Medina (1-1, 7.54 ERA) for the Canaries.
Thursday night is Mess with Texas Night on College Night for Thirsty Thursday! There will be cowboy festivities including a water-gun shootout and all music will be Texas-based musicians. College students will get $5 tickets with a valid ID. Get two domestic 16 oz. tallboys for $10 or two craft/import tallboys for $12.
