ALLEN, Texas- The Americans defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 3-1 Saturday night, in front of 4,749 at the Allen Event Center.
After a scoreless first period, Colton Yellow Horn scored on a wrap-around chance to put the Americans up one.
Darcy Campbell answered for the Bees with a goal of his own two minutes later.
Dave Bonk buried a one-timer on a short-handed opportunity midway through the second to put the Americans up 2-1. Tobias Whelan assisted on the goal at 9:53.
Yellow Horn added his second of the game to give the Americans a 3-1 lead at 10:36. Yellow Horn was able to make his way to the net on the backhand, and loft a rebound opportunity over Bees goaltender Juliano Pagliero.
Chris Whitley and the Americans defense provided a lock down third frame to secure the 3-1 victory for Allen.
With the victory, Allen moves to 44-16-2 on the season, and collects their 89th and 90th point of the season.
Allen will host the Texas Brahmas on Tuesday, March 22nd in a game which was originally scheduled for Friday, February 4th, but was rescheduled due to weather.
The Americans will then skate for the final time at home during the regular season on Fan Appreciation Night, Saturday, March 26th, against the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:00 PM. Prior to the game on the 26th, the Americans will be presented with the Governors' Cup during a brief ceremony.
