NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas lost another close one Saturday night as they fell to the Mississippi RiverKings 4-3 on the road.
Texas started the evening on top with an unassisted goal by Matt Burto at the 14:01 mark. Mississippi came back in the second with a pair of unanswered goals beginning with a penalty shot converted by Chris Auger on Wayne Savage. Brennan Sarazin netted the second âKings goal. In the third a powerplay goal by Russell Smith put Mississippi up by two shots only to have Mick Lawrence split the lead with a powerplay goal of his own, his second in as many games.
As the scoreboard read 12:39 Savage let in a goal from Tyler Sheldrake, which ultimately held as the game winner. In the dwindling seconds Texas pulled their netminder for the extra attacker where Dylan Stanley picked up a goal with 36 seconds left in the game. But time wasn't on the Brahmas side as they finished the game down 4-3.
Texas returns home for the final game in the regular season before playoffs gear up and "Fan Appreciation Night", as they host the Laredo Bucks for a 7:30 pm contest at the NYTEX Sports Centre on Friday. A special pregame ceremony will take place on the ice to honor Chad Woollard, the Brahmas all-time leader in scoring, for his 700th career game and point. The first 700 fans at NYTEX will receive commemorative "Woolly on a stick" fans courtesy of Woolley's Frozen Custard. In effort to show their gratitude for their fans, the Brahmas will present prizes throughout the game for the game.
