Rush Earn Weekend Sweep Over Bucks with 4-1 Win

(Rapid City, SD) - On Saturday, the Rapid City Rush (38-22-4) received goal from four different players to earn a 4-1 victory over the Laredo Bucks (22-33-8) in the final home game of the 2010-11 regular season. Danny Battochio turned away 35 shots for his league-leading 28th win of the season and fourth in five games. Ryan Menei poured in his 38th of the season and seventh game-winning goal, both are team highs.

Scoring the lone goal of the first period was power forward Colt King who collected his 11th goal of the season. The winger received a stretch pass and snapped a wrist shot to the top right corner and over the glove of Torrie Jung 7:40 in.

The Rush continued to add pressure, burying two more goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead. The first came while on the powerplay just 1:08 into the period when Ryan Menei snapped a wrist shot of his own over the glove of Jung. Then at 6:23, a flurry around the Laredo net led to a loose puck in the high slot that was ripped home by defenseman Riley Weselowski for his 5th of the year.

For the second straight night, the Bucks spoiled a shutout bid for Danny Battochio in the closing minutes of the third. With less than six minutes remaining in regulation, a broken play led to a loose puck at the side of the net that was slammed home by Keegan Dansereau. With just nine second left, the Rush added a powerplay goal from Les Reaney to secure the 4-1 win and weekend sweep.

The Rush now hit the road to play the Arizona Sundogs on Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th.
