Tonight's Matchup: After almost a week off for the holiday break, the San Francisco Bulls (11-17-1-3) take on the visiting Las Vegas Wranglers (12-11-1-3) for the second of six meetings on the season. In their last game of 2012, the Wranglers come into town for their first of three visits to San Francisco. Tonight, is also Family Night at the Cow Palace.
In their previous match up, the Bulls departed Sin City with one point, losing 6-5 in overtime. Five goals were scored in the third period, three of which came in the final three minutes of the game. The game clinching goal came off the stick of Las Vegas' Eric Lampe with only 46 seconds left to go in overtime. Las Vegas barely out-shot the Bulls, 40-38. Dean Ouellet scored twice, and Marek Viedensky, Daniil Tarasov and Sacha Guimond each added a tally. Andrew Crescenzi matched the team season high with three assists.
Before the break, the Bulls were unable to fend off the Ontario Reign, losing 3-1 on Friday and 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday. Jordan Morrison netted two power play goals in the third period on Saturday. Ouellet scored the lone shootout goal for the Bulls. The Wranglers are coming to the Cow Palace hot, having won their last three away games, the last two in shootouts against the Utah Grizzlies and the Idaho Steelheads.
Las Vegas currently sits in sixth place in the Western Conference, only two points ahead of San Francisco. The Bulls are tied for seventh in the Western Conference, tied with Utah heading into tonight with 26 points.
Eric Lampe leads the Wranglers with 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) this season, with one goal and one assist against the Bulls in their prior meeting. Captain Justin Bowers (8 goals, 19 assists) and Dean Ouellet (15 goals, 12 assists) continue to pace the Bulls with 27 points on the season. Bowers notched two assists and Ouellet netted two goals previously against Las Vegas.
The first 1,000 fans, 12 and under, receive a Bulls youth t-shirt, courtesy of stayingahead.com. Also, the Radio Disney Road Crew will be on hand in the North Hall from 6-7 pm.
