Stingrays Receive Defenseman Derek Foam from Evansville

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 20 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry and proud ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL), announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Derek Foam from the Evansville IceMen in exchange for future considerations.

Foam, 24, appeared in 18 games with the IceMen this season registering three assists and four penalty minutes. The Mississauga, Ontario, native began the season with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League dressing in six games adding one assist. Last season, Foam skated in 25 total ECHL contests with the Wheeling Nailers and Cincinnati Cyclones scoring four points (one goal, three assists).

Prior to turning pro, Foam attended Niagara University for four seasons netting 23 points (five goals, 18 assists) in 89 games.

The Stingrays wrap up a four-game road trip Friday, December 28 at 7:05 p.m. against the Gwinnett Gladiators at The Arena at Gwinnett Center and return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, December 29 at 7:05 p.m. to host the Wheeling Nailers.
