Evansville IceMen News Release

EVANSVILLE, IN.--- The Evansville IceMen of the ECHL have announced on this date several player movements that will take effect immediately.

The IceMen have been re-assigned four players from their NHL St. Louis Blues and AHL Peoria Rivermen connection. Defenseman Brett Ponich, left wing Anthony Nigro and right wings Cody Beach and Sebastian Wannstrom have been returned to Evansville and will be in the lineup tonight when the IceMen continue their extended six-game holiday homestand, hosting the Elmira Jackals at 7:15 pm at the fabulous Ford Center, downtown Evansville.

Ponich, a second year pro, has collected 3-points in 7-games for the IceMen on 1-goal, 2-assists with 11-PIM and +3 rating. Nigro, in 7-games with the Evansville club, has earned 1-assist with 15-SOG. As for Beach, the Blues rookie draft pick has seen service in 17-IceMen contests, registering 6-points, 2-goals, 4-assists with 1-PPG and 56-PIM. Wannstrom, the rookie from Sweden, has 2-points in 3-games on 1-goal, 1-assist and 10-SOG.

To make room for the arrivals of the Blues-based quartet, the IceMen have traded defenseman Derek Foam 18(0-3-3) to South Carolina for future considerations and waived first year defenseman Sean Whitney 24(1-1-2).

Foam had been summoned by the IceMen from SPHL Huntsville earlier in the campaign when the Evansville squad was afflicted with a rash of injuries especially on its blue line while Whitney was obtained from league rival San Francisco for future considerations due to the same circumstances.

In a related roster move, the IceMen have placed second-year left wing Patrick Kennedy on reserve. The Cornell U. product has engineered 15-points in 29-games on 7-goals, 8-assists with 33-PIM, 1-PPG and 1-FG.

The IceMen are home for a trio of appearances on this holiday weekend, commencing tonight when they guest Elmira at 7:15 pm at the Ford Center. Then on Saturday night, North Division rival Cincinnati invades the premises for a showdown duel with the "Men of the Igloo." Completing three home games in four nights, the IceMen will host their annual New Year's Eve extravaganza Monday night, also at 7:15 pm tangling with the Gwinnett Gladiators.
