Bulls Hold Off Knights in Season Finale

FORT MILL, S.C. - September 3, 2007 - With the South Division Championship wrapped up, the Durham Bulls held off Charlotte 2-1 before 5,168 in the final regular season game for both teams. The Bulls clinched the division with Richmond's 6-5 loss to Norfolk Sunday night. The Knights were playing for pride against their North Carolina rivals. The Knights finish the season at 63-80.

Charlie Haeger (5-16, 4.08) struck out nine Bulls in seven innings of work for the Knights for the loss. Mitch Talbot (13-9, 4.53) got the win for Durham, Chad Orvella (S, 20, 3.12) picked up his 20 save on the season.

Knights infielder Earl Snyder went 2-4 with a solo home run in the 6th.

Following the game, the Chicago White Sox called up pitchers Heath Phillips (13-7, 4.30) and Lance Broadway (8-9, 4.65) as part of their September call-ups.

With good holiday weekend crowds, Charlotte finished strong at the gate to push their 2007 attendance total to 311,119. The Knights open the 2008 season at Columbus on April 3. Charlotte's season opener will be April 11.
