
Bats Finish Strong, Beat Indians 8-2

LOUISVILLE, KY- Louisville used consistent hitting and strong pitching to close the season on a positive note as they defeated the Indianapolis Indians 8-2 Monday afternoon. Every Bats starter except the pitcher got a hit as Louisville won their fourth straight game, all versus Indianapolis, in front of 8,008 at Louisville Slugger Field.
Louisville's first runs came in the second inning when Luis Bolivar singled to right field scoring Aaron Herr. Bolivar then stole second base and scored when Anderson Machado singled to left field. Chris Dickerson homered for the second day in a row, and went 3-for-5 on the day with a RBI and two runs scored.
Bats starter Elizardo Ramirez (W, 4-3) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out eight. Ramon Ramirez pitched three innings of shutout ball, surrendering just one hit. Tyler Pelland came on to pitch a scoreless ninth.
Marty McLeary (L, 5-8) suffered the loss for the Indians, giving up seven runs on 10 hits in five innings of work. Andrew McCutchen led Indianapolis offensively, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
The Bats tacked on three more in the fifth inning. Buck Coats doubled to deep right field scoring Dickerson and Paul Janish, and Coats came home on a Jesse Gutierrez single. Gutierrez batted .450 over the last 11 games.
Louisville finished the season 74-70, good for second place in the International League West. Joey Votto and Aaron Herr were both named IL Post-Season All-Stars, and Votto was named IL Rookie of the Year.
