
Braves Tune Up For Playoffs With Win

Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 3-2 Monday at The Diamond. The Braves fought off a pair of Tides comebacks to win the final game of the regular season. The Braves finished the regular season 77-64 and go into the playoffs as the IL Wild Card.
Martin Prado knocked in a run in the first inning with a single to give Richmond a 1-0 lead. The Tides tied the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Sebastian Boucher. The Braves moved back in front in the home half on an RBI single by Larry Bigbie. Norfolk again rallied to tie the game in the seventh on an RBI single by Mike Cervenak. The Braves scored the winning run in the eighth when Wes Timmons chased Gregor Franco home with a single.
Trey Hodges picked up the win. Buddy Hernandez notched a save. Steve Green took the loss. Prado and Blanco had two hits each for the Braves. Cervenak and Jon Knott had two hits each for the Tides.
The Braves are off Tuesday and open the Governors Cup Playoffs Wednesday at The Diamond vs. the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. Game time is 7 PM.
