DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls failed to generate momentum after a 15-run win on Tuesday, falling 8-2 to the Louisville Bats on Wednesday night at the DBAP. Jackson Stephens (4-3) recorded the win for the Bats while Aaron Slegers (2-2) suffered the loss.

The Bats generated the first runs of the game when former Durham Bull Rob Refsnyder delivered a three-run homer to take a 3-0 lead in the third. The Bulls offense had a chance in the bottom of the inning, when they loaded the bases with no one out. Mike Brosseau drew a bases loaded walk and Christian Arroyo hit into a double play that scored another to make it 3-2.

That was as close as the Bulls could get, as the Bats offense quickly responded with an Aristides Aquino solo home run in the fourth inning to make it 4-2. Phillip Ervin took over from there, with a two-run home run in the sixth inning and a two-run blast in the seventh inning, giving the Bats an 8-2 lead.

Bats pitching held the Bulls offense in check for much of the game, thanks to solid relief work from Stephens, Ian Krol and Jimmy Herget. Bats relievers allowed five hits and no runs while striking out five.

The Bulls will wrap up their three-game series with Louisville on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m, before welcoming the Columbus Clippers for four games in three days Friday evening.
